Leadership research survey indicates growing role of CDI professionals in clinical validation, denials prevention, and clinical appeals
A national survey of 118 clinical documentation improvement (CDI) leaders, including supervisors, managers, and directors, reveals trends in clinical denials, and the role of CDI professionals in their prevention and appeal. While denials have traditionally been handled by a dedicated denials department or HIM/coding, CDI professionals with their clinical acumen and knowledge of coding guidelines have found a new niche in denials management.
This report provides summary data and insight and analysis by eight experts who are successfully leveraging their CDI staff to protect hospital revenue.
